About
The human figure has always excited me in the story each wrinkle and fold has to tell. We all share certain aspects with each other but it's the uniqueness and differences to a person that I love to express in sculpture. I've explored abstract work with steel and mixed media, digital sculpture with 3D printing and carving the figure in wood. My true love is modeling in clay and the endless possibilities I keep finding in the material to work with my imagination. I use a hybrid of the constructed and observational methods for figure sculpture, starting with a model and building on that with anatomy knowledge and design of the final composition.
I started my sculpture studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art with special instruction from Robert A. Copskey and Leddele Moe. Since then I’ve studied and lived abroad in Chiba and Osaka, Japan at the Osaka University of Arts 大阪芸術大学and received the Presidential Talent Based and Department Scholarships during my BFA. I participated in drawing and sculpture workshops at the Columbus College of Art and Design, The Art Students League of New York, Pratt Institute, Anatomy Tools, CG Society, CGMA, Gnomon School of Visual Arts, Alicia Ponzio's instruction at JHess Studios and Beth Cavaner's instruction at Studio 740.
I’m currently located in San Francisco, California.
